School scoops £2,000 building project prize

Students from the Garden City-based Oaklands College will be lending a hand with a school’s development project.

WHT_1815As part of the annual Welwyn Hatfield Times School Awards, the school with the most nominations also scooped £2,000 worth of work donated by the college.

The awards are organised by the WHT in partnership with Oaklands College. The winner of the prize this year was Chancellor’s in Brookmans Park. Staff from the school will now work with college chiefs to devise the project, which students will work on.

The WHT will bring regular updates once work begins. Category winners from Chancellor’s were:

  • Stephen Parker – Special Recognition.
  • Kirpal Phull – Unsung Hero.

Finalists included:

  • Sally Rowe and Siobhan Reilly – Teacher of the Year, Secondary.
  • Grace Gear – Sporting Achiever.
  • Louise Lavendar – Support Staff Member.
  • Lucy Prigmore – Pupil of the Year.
