Meet the host
Shirley is a local girl – born in St Albans in the 60’s and choosing to return to the area after teacher training college. She has spent her whole career in education – teaching 2 year olds right up to 11 year olds in the last 29 years. She led an outstanding nursery for 25 years, and saw over 2000 children go through her hands as well as latterly, combining this challenging work with training early years teachers for Tribal Education, all around the south east of the UK.
She now works as an independent educational consultant, delivering training to both teachers and parents, locally. She has the utmost respect for teachers in today’s teaching climate. She is a co-presenter on The Parent’s Show – a weekly live radio show on Radio Verulam and online
She has recently launched a new style of holiday and weekend club for children, in Wheathampstead in a beautiful barn and woodland. She feels passionately that she wants to offer local children a stress free and creative environment where they can be themselves- thus the name of the adventure club; Let ME be ME
Shirley knows Welwyn well – her daughter was at a brilliant school in the town for 5 years and her favourite department store is located here! She recently hosted the Herts Advertiser St.Albans School awards and was delighted to see her former English teacher receive a special award for many years of service to the profession
